Developing A Training and Assessment Strategy Framework

Once the purpose of the training and assessment strategy has been clarified and a profile of the learner group developed, the framework of the particular qualification option can be developed.

TAA40104 Certificate IV Training and Assessment does not cover this topic, however TAA50104 Diploma in Training and Assessment covers the development of this framework in detail.

The qualification design may support the implementation of a qualification from a Training Package where the combination of units or requirements has been predetermined. The strategy could also be the process of designing a qualification based on meeting a client need and designing a ‘course’ that involves determining the relevant benchmarks, either by researching relevant standards or developing new units to meet the need.
Qualification requirements

If the training and assessment strategy is related to a qualification from a Training Package, the content of the qualification and its level needs to be addressed at this stage.

You need to match the AQF level of the qualification to the needs of the client and/or target group to confirm it is appropriate and relevant.

It is critical to follow the relevant Training Package qualification or packaging rules when designing your training and assessment strategy. You should refer to the latest version of the Training Package and consult the relevant industry body, Industry Skills Council, industry specialists and other educators.

Knowing how to analyse a Training Package is essential underpinning competence required to design a training and assessment strategy.
